Clinical Search

Search across the patient record — notes, results, and documents — so finding a prior finding takes seconds, not a chart review.

Beta

Find it, don’t excavate it

Every clinician knows the excavation: you are certain something is in the chart — a prior result, a note about a reaction, a specialist’s recommendation — and you spend the visit’s first minutes digging through tabs to find it. JamEMR’s clinical search replaces the dig with a query: type what you are looking for and search across the patient’s notes, results, and documents at once.

Clinical search is in beta and being validated with pilot practices.

  • Clinical notes. Full-text search across encounter documentation, so a phrase you remember writing is a phrase you can find.
  • Results. Locate lab reports and results by name or content without scrolling a results list chronologically.
  • Documents. Because JamEMR’s document intelligence extracts text and structure from scanned and faxed documents at ingestion, even a fax from another facility is searchable — not a locked image in a folder.

Results link straight to their source in the chart, and the Clinical Timeline gives every hit its temporal context: not just that it was said, but when.

Search that gets sharper as the chart gets smarter

Plain-text search finds words. JamEMR’s search is built on the same structured Clinical Knowledge layer that powers the AI Assistant, which means it improves as that layer grows: a search for a medication can find it in a note, in a structured medication entry, and in an ingested discharge summary — because all three have been read into the same record.

This is the compounding effect of the platform’s design. Ingestion makes documents readable; the knowledge layer makes them structured; search makes them findable. Each capability makes the others more useful.

On your hardware, like everything else

Search queries are questions about protected health information, and in JamEMR they are answered where the data lives. The AI-assisted processing behind search and ingestion runs on the practice’s own dedicated local GPU hardware — patient data is not sent to third-party consumer AI clouds to be indexed or retrieved. Fast answers, without a new place your data travels.
